Alex Clarke - Reeds/Flute

A gem of a find in the band’s search for young and talented musicians Alex Clarke is a young reeds and flute player from South Cheshire.  Although She is classically trained to grade 8 Distinction in piano and flute, she is best known for playing jazz saxophone and flute around clubs and festivals in the Midlands and North West of England.  She became interested in jazz at the age of 14 after seeing the Big Chris Barber Band and has benefitted enormously from the mentorship of Amy Roberts over the last few years.  During her rise to solo frontline gigging, she has been privileged to sit in with some legendary names from the world of jazz, who have helped to inspire and guide her playing. Alex loves playing all types of jazz from Dixieland through to bebop.

Whilst it was a pleasure and a privilege to have Alex on board with the Dixiebeats, alas fame and stardom has taken her on her destined path to greatness. After her success as a finalist with the BBCs Young Jazz Musician of the Year, Alex has since recorded her own album, played regularly at the esteemed Ronnie Scott's Bar in London and you can find her touring with her own ensemble "The Alex Clarke Quartet" at a venue near you!
